Ari heard what had happened to the merchants. She knew that it was coming especially since Fresnel told all of the rescuers to stay out of Anana’s business, but she still felt sad and a bit guilty that she hadn’t warned her merchant friend: Falu. Now the Riolu headed towards Sapling Village in order to do some tasks. She hoped to see Falu there, knowing that all the merchants moved up there, but when Ari arrived, a Nidoking named Trudeau came up to her and told her about her tasks. She decided to retrieve some missing Shroomish kids in the Creeping Forest first before anything else. Maybe I’ll see Falu later in the day. She thought as she exited the village and made her way into the Creeping Forest.

As she walked into the forest, she remembered the first time that Coy and her were in the Creeping Forest. It was their first mission when they arrived in Tao. They were surveying the damage from Sorbet’s rampage. She smiled at the memory, but the heard a distant cry for help. Ari, alert now, dashed forward towards the noise. Once she jumped over a falling log, she looked down at a big dip in the ground, seeing a few Shroomish along with an angry looking Shiftry.

“H-Help!” Came the shrill cry again. The Shroomish were cornered as the Shiftry closed in on them. Ari wasn’t exactly sure what these kids did to make him mad, but she wasn’t going to let him hurt them. She jumped down from where she was and landed in front of the cowering Shroomish. At first, they all appeared stunned, but the anger continued to burn in the Shiftry’s eyes. His hair bristled and he let out a low growling noise as he glared from the Shroomish to the newcomer.

“Save us!” One of the Shroomish said to Ari as he and the other ones hid behind her. “Please!” She would of course. That was her task after all. Ari decided to reason first before any fighting would have to occur.

“Please, why are you scaring these Shroomish?” She started to say to the Shiftry. “They’re just children. I’m sure anything that they have done to trouble you can be overlooked. Please. I don’t want any trouble.”

The Shiftry seemed to dwell on her words for a moment and then spoke, some of his hostility leaving his eyes. “They were messing around with my tree!” He exclaimed. “They kept on knocking on it and making all sorts of noises. Then, when I just couldn’t stand it anymore, they went snooping around!”

Ari understood his argument. She turned to look at the frightened Shroomish. “Go on, tell him you’re sorry.” The Shroomish looked shaken, but they managed to speak.

“W-We’re sorry mister. We were only playing.” One of them said. “We were trying to find the treasure around the giant tree in the book.”

“Well my tree don’t got any treasure near it or under it!” The Shiftry said, speaking a bit softer now. He seemed calmer and less aggressive. “Well, I guess I’ll let you go then, but don’t disturb me.” After looking at the Shroomish and then giving a nod to Ari, he ran off into the trees.

After he left, Ari turned to the children. “Come on now, why don’t I get you all home, hm?” Ari asked them with a smile. The Shroomish nodded, their expressions relieved and happy.

“We’d be glad to miss!” One of the Shroomish, a female, agreed. “We have had enough of an adventure today. Nothing is as exciting as it was in that book…”

“Yah, everything was much scarier!” Another replied.

“But… what are we going to do about the treasure we found?” One Shroomish asked, looking at all of them with doubt.

“Treasure? I thought you guys said you didn’t find any?” Ari asked, puzzled.

“Well, no… but we found this!” the one Shroomish rolled an oval ball over to the Riolu. “It’s some sort of strange ball.”

“That’s not a ball…” Ari said once she looked at it. “It’s an egg!” It was a lovely green egg with a red zigzag stripe over it.

“An egg…? What are we supposed to do with it then? Should we take it to mister Ginko?” The Shroomish asked. Ari didn’t even know where this egg came from or whose it’s parents even were. It’s an orphan now… she thought, feeling a tinge of pity for it. Then, upon realizing that all of the Shroomish were looking at her, she spoke.

“Um… sure. Let’s go back to the village now.” Ari said.

Ari returned to Sapling with the five missing Shroomish behind her. She gave them back to the Serperior known as Ginko and then asked about the egg. Ginko had told her that he had never seen anything like it and that he would probably be inexperienced with handling it. He then suggested that Ari take it with her to care for the egg. At first, Ari was uncertain, but then she agreed and took the egg along with her. I wonder what it is… and what sort of Pokémon it’ll turn out to be…? And… how will I even care for it? I’m not too familiar with infants…
Upon arrival at Sapling, Ari wishes to see her friend, Falu, but instead does a task first. She tries to find some Shroomish kids that have wandered off into Creeping Forest. Once she finds them however, she finds something else.
